Prince William’s charity polo match ditches donor for trying to sell access to him and Kate

Prince William’s Royal Charity Polo Cup has severed its sponsorship agreement with the Mondejar Gallery after its founder, millionaire Minerva Mondejar Steiner, was accused of offering exclusive access to the Prince and Princess of Wales in exchange for donations.

According to a June 28 report by The Sunday Times, an email from the Mondejar Foundation to an exclusive networking group, A Small World, allegedly promised a “private audience” with William and Kate for a donation of $27,362. The email reportedly stated that donors would be welcomed to a “highly exclusive gathering” hosted in the presence of British royals, alongside prominent figures from philanthropy, fashion, and the arts.

Following the allegations, organizers of the polo event swiftly terminated their association with the Mondejar Gallery. The Royal Charity Polo Cup, which supports William’s philanthropic initiatives, emphasized that such practices violate its ethical standards.

Kensington Palace has not yet commented on the matter, but the incident highlights ongoing concerns about the commercialization of royal access.
