GTA 6 Faces Another Delay: Release Slips to November 2026
Rockstar Games has announced a fresh postponement for Grand Theft Auto VI, shifting the launch from late 2025 to November 19, 2026, to ensure top-quality delivery.
In a statement released on November 7, 2025, Rockstar Games confirmed that development on Grand Theft Auto VI, or GTA 6, will take longer than expected. The popular open-world game, eagerly awaited by millions of fans, was first set for a fall 2025 release. This marks the second major delay, following an earlier pushback from spring 2025. The company said the extra time is needed to polish the game and meet high standards for storytelling and gameplay.
GTA 6 has built massive hype since its reveal trailer in December 2023, which drew over 200 million views on YouTube. Set in a fictional version of Florida called Leonida, the game follows a criminal duo in a story inspired by real-life events like the Bonnie and Clyde era. Players can expect advanced graphics, deeper side missions, and a huge map full of vehicles, weapons, and activities. Rockstar, known for hits like GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, wants to avoid rushed launches that could harm the series’ reputation.
The news hit parent company Take-Two Interactive hard, with shares dropping about 7% in early trading. Analysts point to the delay as a blow to holiday sales plans, but many believe the wait will pay off with record-breaking sales. GTA V, released in 2013, has sold over 200 million copies and still generates billions through online modes.
Fans have mixed feelings. Some express frustration on social media, worried about waiting another year, while others support the move for a better product. “Quality over quantity,” one player posted online. No new trailers or details were shared, but Rockstar promised updates soon.
